United planning big money swoop for Brazilian midfielder

Today's tabloid rumours predict that a Brazilian international midfielder could be the subject of interest from Louis van Gaal as he looks to take Manchester United into the Champions League.

The 22-year-old, Felipe Anderson is understood to be the subject of a £30m summer bid according to The Sun, despite the player having only recently signed a 5-year contract with Serie A outfit Lazio.

Felipe Anderson sounds like a long shot with the highly regarded young player having enjoyed a great season in Rome at a club who themselves have qualified for the Champions League. Anderson scored an impressive 10 times for Lazio in 32 appearances last season which is why van Gaal is so interested and not put off by the difficulty in luring such a player away.

Louis van Gaal remains determined to take United to the next level which involves something of an overhaul in attack after bringing in Memphis Depay, ending the loan spell of Radamel Falcao and looking at other players which are entering the tail-end of contracts.

Felipe Anderson, not to be confused with the Brazilian Anderson who’s time at Old Trafford was difficult to put it mildly is an attacking midfielder from Santa Maria. The player started his career at Santos but was brought to Italy after three years of the start of his senior career in 2013. The player has earned the nickname “o rato de Roma” (The mouse from Rome) which is derived from a popular Brazilian tongue-twister.
