United pair rejected Arsenal

Manchester United starlets Fabio and Rafael Da Silva have revealed how they turned down the chance to join Arsenal and Real Madrid. The full-back twins are tipped to fill the roles for years to come at Old Trafford and both played in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat. "Arsenal were interested and we also spoke to Madrid. But we chose United because they worked hard and everyone knows them," left-back Fabio told The Daily Mail. The pair have also spoken about the relationship they have built up with their captain and manager. "Senhor Alex (Ferguson) has always been very supportive of us. He likes to know what people are like on and off the field. He jokes around with us. "Rio (Ferdinand) is a great friend of ours. He has been great. He's the biggest joker of them all," added right-back Rafael. The transition to the Premier League has looked easy for the two so far, but Fabio has admitted it was difficult to leave Fluminense and move to England. Rafael even married his girlfriend so she could gain UK citizenship, and they have revealed how they still miss certain things from Brazil. "We miss everything from home. The heat, the culture, the people, the humour, playing football and volleyball on the beach. But it is worth it because this is the best league."
