United held by Valencia

Manchester United conceded their first goal in 498 Champions League minutes but finish top of Group C after a 1-1 draw with Valencia. The hosts started the best with Vicente Guaita producing good saves to deny Anderson and Ji-Sung Park, but Valencia stunned Old Trafford just after the half-hour by taking the lead. Michael Carrick dwelled on possession and the Spanish side broke and Alejandro Dominguez fed Pablo Hernandez who fired home from 12 yards. United could have been level three minutes later but Wayne Rooney`s superb curling effort crashed into the bar and Nani disappointingly dragged the rebound wide with the goal gaping. Dimitar Berbatov had a goal disallowed for offside as United pushed for a leveller, and it eventually came just after the hour when Anderson scooped home a rebound from Rooney`s fierce drive. Neither side were able to force a winner, so both progress to the last 16, with United topping the group.
