A Manchester United supporter has been released from hospital in Rome after suffering knife wounds to his leg. Greg Wheldon, 34, has told police he was attacked close to his hotel near the Vatican by four people. He was taken to the Santo Spirito hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning, before being released later in the day. A hospital spokesman told Sky Sports News that his injuries were "not serious". Thousands of United supporters have descended on the Italian capital for tonight's UEFA Champions League final with Barcelona. Rome police official Marcello Cardona said the authorities were still investigating the attack. Meanwhile, police said that two Britons were arrested for assaulting bystanders in Campo de Fiori, a popular tourist area. Both men were reported to be drunk, despite a ban on alcohol sales in areas including the city centre and nearby the Stadio Olimpico, where Wednesday night's clash will be staged.
