United eye £25m Suarez swoop

Manchester are lining up another South American swoop to bolster their attack and ease the goalscoring burden on Wayne Rooney. Ajax's prolific 23-year-old £25m-rated hitman Luis Suarez ticks most of the wanted boxes for Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Another proven scorer to add to Rooney's contribution is paramount for August. He has already landed Mexican 21-year-old Juan Hernandez but now another Latin swoop could be on the agenda. Fergie has penned a list of strikers for Old Trafford chief executive David Gill to pursue during the summer. Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Valencia's David Villa are believed to be among those being considered but Suarez is also high on the Old Trafford wanted list. United will make in-roads into their targets and the club policy is to work down the pyramid with Benzema top of the pile. But should the Frenchman be unable to be shifted from the Bernabeu, despite his less than successful debut season in Madrid which resulted with him being omitted from the French World Cup squad, Suarez will come into the equation. With a career record of 74 goals in 97 appearances for Ajax in the Dutch League, Uruguayan Suarez has an envious goalscoring record. This season he scored 49 goals in all for Martin Jol's Ajax side and was made the club captain. Who would you like to see United bring in? Have your say.
