United boys must bounce back like John Terry, says England boss Capello

Fabio Capello has urged the Manchester United players in his Englandsquad to draw on the inspiration of his captain, John Terry, and bounceback from their Champions League disappointment. [LNB]Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick were part of theteam humbled by Barcelona in Rome on Wednesday night, but as Capelloprepares his squad for World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan andAndorra, the Italian urged the trio to follow Terry's lead.[LNB] Humbled: Rooney and Carrick struggle to contain Messi[LNB] MANCHESTER UNITED FC: All the latest news from across the webSir Alex poised to get cheque book out if hard-luck Hargreaves fails to beat injury woe in time for new seasonBayern demand more than £40m for Ribery as Real look to land French starThe Chelsea captain missed the vital penalty in last year's Champions League final loss to United in Moscow, only to score shortly after for England in a friendly against the United States. 'I hope we will have this reaction,' said Capello. [LNB]'Terry played very well in the game after last year's final and after having missed the penalty. I hope for the same reaction from the others.' [LNB]Capello will certainly want his players to keep the ball better than United managed in Rome, and he was particularly surprised to see his star man, Rooney, one of the principal culprits. [LNB]'It was incredible,' said Capello. 'He lost (misplaced) a lot of easy passes in Rome. He was nervous. But it's not a problem for me as he's a very good player.' [LNB]Ferdinand, himself, hopes the England games will serve as the first step towards recovering from the disappointing defeat. [LNB]'I love playing football so I will be happy to pull on the England shirt and play again,' said the central defender. [LNB]'Losing against Barcelona was a bitter pill to swallow but you have to be man enough to take the bad times with the good. [LNB] Outclassed: Wayne Rooney and United must bounce back[LNB]'We have had some very good times of late, so you have to accept defeat and the lads have shown that graciously. [LNB]'Hopefully, the games coming up with England will help get it out of my system.'[LNB] Capello, who, as a Juventus player, lost the 1973 European Cup final to Ajax and two finals as a manager with AC Milan in 1993 and 1995, will at least have some empathy with Rooney, Carrick and Ferdinand.[LNB] 'After a game like this you have to look to the future and look forward,' he said. 'You have to forget what happened. For me, I was able to forget every time when I lost. As a player I lost a final against Ajax and as a manager I lost some finals.' [LNB]Despite seeing Barcelona shrug aside Chelsea and United on their triumphant march to lift the European Cup, Capello says that watching their team has given him plenty to ponder ahead of next summer's World Cup Finals. [LNB]He believes the way Guus Hiddink's Chelsea stifled the extraordinary midfield talents of Andres Iniesta and Xavi provides the key to beating European champions Spain should the nations clash in South Africa. [LNB]The Barcelona pair will be at the heart of the Spain side, a team who would also include club-mates Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets. [LNB]And though United were well beaten on Wednesday by those players, who will be supplemented by the likes of Iker Casillas, David Villa and Fernando Torres, Capello feels that Hiddink has demonstrated how England might cope with such high-quality opponents. [LNB]'I watched the three games of Barcelona: the semifinals against Chelsea and the final, and I learned a lesson from Hiddink,' he said, 'because when Barcelona played in London, they didn't play; Chelsea played better. It is possible to play against them.'[LNB] MANCHESTER UNITED FC: All the latest news from across the webSir Alex poised to get cheque book out if hard-luck Hargreaves fails to beat injury woe in time for new seasonBayern demand more than £40m for Ribery as Real look to land French star[LNB] [LNB]
