United bid for Bale would end the dream: Meulensteen

The Manchester United pursuit of Gareth Bale continues to hit the headlines with former United assistant Rene Meulensteen believing the club are wasting there time with a reported £120million bid for the Welsh winger.

Meulenteen is of the belief that with Bale at his dream club, playing alongside players of the quality of Cristiano Ronaldo that any attempt to lure him away would be a wasted effort or at least very difficult.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m not sure Gareth Bale wants to leave Real Madrid yet.

“You can see it in his performances.

“It was a dream move for him to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and other world class players.

"He’s very happy where he is and it would be very difficult to tempt him away.”

Bale to United has always been one of those rumours that revel in world record transfer fees and big headlines but under the surface lack any real substance. The player appears happy even though there has been some focus on his future at Real Madrid with questions over his teamwork and fan unrest.

This does sound like it has been blown out of all proportion and perhaps Meulensteen has a point but Bale could just say no when the bid comes in if he would be unhappy with the proposed move.
