The long-running transfer saga involving both Hummels and Depay appears to have at least moved forward with United reportedly reaching a 'tentative' agreement in their quest to sign both players.

Reports in the Sunday World appear to suggest that a tentative agreement has been reached for United to sign both Hummels and Depay in the summer with both players ready to move to Old Trafford.

Hummels, 26, is valued at £35m with Depay raising the spend on both targets to £55m which is somewhat less than Di Maria cost last summer.

Regarding Hummels the Dortmund chief executive has stated that no deal has been finalised to sell Hummels anywhere.

"To be clear: Mats knows his contractual situation, he described it in that interview himself. The decision where Mats will play next season will only be taken by BVB.”

Depay on the other hand has been expected to move on in the Summer by the manager Cocu who says the club should be proud that they trained a player that has moved to one of Europe’s top clubs.

The report suggests that United are keen to seal their targets early in the transfer window with Ed Woodward at Old Trafford keen not to get involved in any last minute transfer scrambles.

With Hummels United will have one of the best central-defenders in the world and with Depay a versatile and capable winger that van Gaal will know very well.
