[LNB]Credit due: Sir Alex Ferguson[LNB]Sir Alex Ferguson has rounded on critics who claim his Manchester United side are playing poorly, despite mounting an unbeatentitle challenge. [LNB]The United manager is aware his side's 20-match league record thisseason has included eight draws - seven away from Old Trafford - butfeels his players deserve more credit. [LNB]In a staunch defence of them ahead of today's game at Tottenham, he claimed his team's displays had been 'wrongly assessed'. [LNB]Ferguson said: 'You are always going to get different appraisal ofManchester United than other clubs.[LNB]'Our form has been wrongly assessed. We have dominated every home game, including the Arsenal one, which weshould have won by five. [LNB]'We've had disappointing resultsin some away games, but we played well in games such as Everton andcould have had five or six before throwing the points away. It remindsthe players that we have to be perfect for people to be happy.' [LNB]Fergusonhas been low key about his team, writing off their chances of emulatingArsenal's 2004 Invincibles and going the season unbeaten. [LNB]Butthe 69-year-old is irked that his players are not getting the respectfor their consistency, and remarked on the 'London press' having askewed view of their 1-0 win over Arsenal, a sign Ferguson is gettingready for the business end of the season.[LNB] Spurs and ManchesterCity have talked up their chances of winning the League but Fergusontried to put them in their place by suggesting their efforts should beconcentrated on a head-to-head for fourth place. [LNB] 'Do people think both of them will get into the top four? I don't think so. That would mean Arsenal or Chelsea wouldn't be in. [LNB]'But the progress Spurs have made is going to hold them well in the next few years and they will progress. A new stadium will help and if you look at their squad, they haven't got any really old players other than (William) Gallas.' [LNB]Ferguson also backs Harry Redknapp as a leading contender for the England job when Fabio Capello leaves in 2012. [LNB]'If they're talking about it having to be an Englishman there isn't even a shortlist - just one or two names,' he said. [LNB]'There is no question Harry has to come into the equation.'[LNB] Beckham gets stuck in at training, but Tottenham deal is in doubtAre Spurs and not Manchester United now the game's top entertainers?MANCHESTER UNITED FC: All the latest news from across the web[LNB] [LNB]  Explore more:People: Alex Ferguson, Fabio Capello, Harry Redknapp Places: London, United Kingdom
