Transfer Round Up 14th June - Cristiano back to Manchester United, Galatasaray give up on Nani

14 June 2013 09:11

We start with the biggest news of the day and that is of Cristiano Ronaldo “twitting” that there is no truth to the rumors that he is close to signing a new contract with Real Madrid. Madrid President Florentino Perez has been boosting that he is close to extending Ronaldo’s contract and that we is quoted as saying "I would bet Cristiano will retire at Real Madrid because it's the natural thing”. With Ronaldo’s admission that no contract is forthcoming, it is time for David Moyes and Manchester United to either put up or shut up about Ronaldo coming back to Old Trafford. This should be a most interesting week to see if United are serious about such a move.

The other big news of the day has to do with another La Liga Player. That would be Cesc Fabregas wanted to come back to the Premier League with either Arsenal or United. Fabregas was most poignant in his remarks stating that reports of any move were “absurd”. He went on to say "I've always said that I'm happy at Barca. Whoever says that I'm leaving doesn't know me and has never spoken with me.” So we can close the door of Fabregas returning to the Premier League and all of the speculation for at least this year. You will be missed.

The “will he stay or will he go” saga of Andy Carroll looks to also be over soon. West Ham have offered a £15.5m transfer fee to Liverpool and all indications are that Liverpool would be satisfied with that number. It was reported in the London Evening News that “West Ham co-chairman David Gold believes “Carroll’s signing had increased from, “50-50 to 75-25 per cent” and there have been reports that the striker has been offered a four-year deal worth £78,000 per week.” So it looks like Carroll will not be going home to Newcastle, but staying at Upton Park.

Next up is the “ever transferring” Carlos Tevez and life at Manchester City. I can’t say for sure but Tevez has been linked with more clubs this year than anybody else. Currently his suitors are again Juventus and AC Milan. Tevez is in the final year of his contract and there was a rumor last week that City was to offer another two years to his current contract. As of right now, nothing has been offered and everyday Tevez is linked with another club. City are still without a manager and until this issue is resolved, there probably will not be any significant signings and the future of Tevez will stay up in the air.

We close with a few “Quick Hits.” Kicking mad, Javier Mascherano was been linked in the Spanish media with former manager Rafa Benitez and a possible move to Napoli. Mascherano played for Benitez while at Liverpool and again is being linked with his old manager.

Galatasaray have given up on their pursuit of Manchester United winger Nani. Gala had made several offers but all have been shot down. It is not sure if Nani said no to the transfer or if United already have him lined up with another club for more money. Juventus seem to be the front runners for his services.

Lastly we have interest from Marseille in Arsenal winger Gervinho. The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international is said to be linked with a move away from the Emirates and heading back to France. This should give Arsene Wenger a few more pounds to spend in his pursuit of strengthen his side. Gervinho moved from Lille to Arsenal for £11m back in 2011
