Transfer News - Rooney tipped for mega-money move to Manchester City

19 October 2010 07:32
Wayne Rooney has broken the rumour mill. There's only one piece of transfer gossip worth writing today and he's it.

As you'll know, Rooney has turned down a new contract at Old Trafford and fallen out with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Daily Telegraph reckons United are refusing to meet his wage demands of £200,000/week. They say Manchester City are ready to step in, and Rooney is ready to go.

The Guardian concur. They say Rooney has told United team-mates that City is more likely destination than Barcelona or Real Madrid.

His wife Colleen is said to favour staying in the UK and that could tip the balance in City's favour.

The Daily Mirror are also going with Rooney to Manchester City. They're going with a fee of £100 million and £50m in wages over four years.

The one exception is caughtoffside.com, who like the idea that Real Madrid could swap Karim Benzema, Lassana Diarra and £20m to get Rooney at the Bernabeu.

Expect more tomorrow. Surely 'Rooney to Liverpool' will be written by then.
