Manchester United and Liverpool will both make moves to sign Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour this summer.

The highly-rated Belgium midfielder has long been linked with a move to one of Europe's top clubs and it's looking increasingly likely that he'll be on the move when the transfer window opens. Liege will not allow him to leave on the cheap and are believed to want at least £15 million for their star man.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish are both keen on the box-to-box midfielder with the United boss seeing him as the perfect replacement for veteran Paul Scholes.

Arsenal have found goals difficult to come by in recent games and Arsene Wenger is keen on securing the services of a new striker in order to avoid similar problems next season.

Top of the Frenchman's wishlist is Papiss Demba Cisse, Freiburg's Senegalese international forward.

The German club are reluctant to let their top scorer leave and will demand at least £13m for him. The Gunners are happy to pay that amount and could cash in on some of their fringe players to help fund the deal.

Manchester United could move for Sporting Lisbon keeper Rui Patricio.

Liverpool are continuing to scout French trio Hugo Lloris, Mamadou Sakho and Yann M'Vila.

Everton are interested in Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on signing Tottenham midfielder Sando.
