Ever since joining Manchester United in 2004, at the age of 18, Wayne Rooney has established himself as a top player for club & country.
Often seen as the catalyst of the side, his energy, passion and work rate can not be flawed. He scored 34 goals for Manchester United last season, matching his previous best two seasons ago. In late August, Rooney scored his 150th goal for United, the first of a hatrick helping to demolish Arsenal 8–2.Rooney won man of the match, scoring two free kicks, a penalty, and also contributing an assist.
He followed this up with another hat-trick in the next game; a 5–0 away win over Bolton Wanderers,10 September, becoming only the fourth player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in consecutive games. Rooney is currently 4th in the leading all time top scorer list at Manchester United.
Only 68 goals behind the great Bobby Charlton, and at the age of just 26, he could quite possibly become United's leading goal scorer.
Wayne Rooney – Hatrick on debut for Man Utd – As an 18 year old boy, Wayne Rooney cost Manchester United £25.6million. A huge fee for a player so young, with little experience. However, on his debut, in a Champions League game vs Fenerbache, Wayne went on to score an emphatic hatrick. It was a sign to everyone out there that Manchester United had signed a real player.
