10) Jordan Henderson – £20m
The countdown starts with Jordan Henderson who moved from Sunderland to Liverpool in 2011. Sunderland Chairman at the time, and now Sky Sports pundit, Nail Quinn said on Sunderland’s official website: “Jordan is a credit to himself, his family and Sunderland’s Academy and everyone here wishes him the very best for the future”. However at the beginning of his Liverpool career many people labelled him a flop, but under Brendan Rodgers he came into his own. He became a regular starter for Liverpool and took over the captaincy when Steven Gerrard left for the MLS. He is now also a mainstay in the England line-up.
