Edwin van der Sar
Edwin van der Sar ended his career at Manchester United, having spent 10 years in the Premier League with Fulham and Manchester United. Van der Sar was a major coup for Fulham – and went on to make 100 appearances for the London club. However, the inevitable happened – and Van der Sar was soon on his way to Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson described Van der Sar as 'the best goalkeeper we've had since Peter Schmeichel' – which sings praise for the Dutchman. Commanding performances and incredible athleticism for a a man in his late 30's – his incredible performances helped Man United win four Premier League trophies in his six seasons with the club – as well as The Champions League. Nicknamed by United fans as 'Van der Save' he spent three years at the club and earned himself three appearances in the PFA Team Of The Year. He is the current holder of the 'Worldwide league record keeping clean sheet' with a total of 1,311 minutes – set in the 08/09 season – for Manchester United.
Van der Sar earned himself 130 caps for the Dutch national team – making him their most capped player in their history.
