A high-class hatrick by Ronaldo ensured a fouth successive UEFA Champions League semi-final for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's Brazillian superstar scored a stunning hat-trick to destroy United's chances of Champions League glory. Sir Alex Ferguson's men won a match liberally sprinkled with sparkling, attacking football – but Real went through as United's defensive deficiencies were cruelly exposed, again. Ronaldo was taken off to a standing ovation from everyone inside Old Trafford, a match many fans of each side will never forget.

Ronaldo single handedly wrecked Manchester United Champions League dreams with a stunning display of at Old Trafford. Sir Alex's side where to win the game, but due to the away goal rule, Real progressed to the semi-final. A 25 yard strike by the Brazilian looked to have settle the tie for Real, a great goal from the Brazilian legend. He was taken off shortly after by Del Bosque with the tie seemingly over.

David Beckham entered the scene after, with the game at 3-2. A trademark free kick saw the game go to 3-3, before he bundled in an effort late on that saw United win the game 4-3. They were able to claim victory on the night, but progression to the later rounds was destroyed courtesy of the Brazilian legend, Ronaldo.

Not many players get that sort of reception when leaving the field from both fans. Ronaldo received the ovation he deserved after leaving the field. Many see him as arguably the greatest striker of all time in his prime, and this hat-trick ensured that his side progressed.
