Liverpool had held the record for the number of league titles, with a total of 18.
Since the Premier Leagues inaugural season in 1992, United have been chipping away at that record by winning 12 Premier League titles.
Once they clinched the 12th it took their total to 19 and broke the record set by their rivals Liverpool.
