The Rooney's Issue A Statement
Wayne and Coleen Rooney issued a statement earlier tonight after the revelations about the couple's marriage. They have described an extremely painful part of their lives as being filled with 'inaccurate and intrusive stories' about their private lives, and have expressed to the media that they respect their privacy. Wayne Rooney was last Sunday alleged to have had an affair with a prostitute last winter while his wife Coleen was pregnant with the couple’s son, Kai. Sunday tabloids alleged the pair could break-up amid the revelations. However, tonight Wayne and Coleen have dismissed the stories, and asked for privacy amid an 'extremely painful' time."The last six days have been extremely painful for us and for our families." said the couple, in a joint statement."It is impossible for us, as it would be for any family, to attempt to resolve any issues in the current media glare and against the backdrop of so many inaccurate and intrusive stories." the pair stated. "We would therefore ask that the media now respects our privacy and the right of our family to discuss these matters in private."
