The new Ronaldo? Wigan winger Valencia in line to replace sulky star

The hissy fit at Sir Alex Ferguson has raised suspicions that he could be plotting another attempt to leave Manchester United this summer, so perhaps it is appropriate that tomorrow night Cristiano Ronaldo will come face to face with the man earmarkedto replace him. A £20million deal has already been agreed in principle for Wigan's Antonio Valencia tojoin United should Ronaldo be granted his wish to play in Spain with Real Madrid. Equally, Valencia could end up on the right wing at the Bernabeu and Real's technicaldirector Miguel Angel Portugal will be an interested observer at the JJB Stadium tomorrow to watch their two targets in the Barclays Premier League. That is, of course, assuming Ferguson chooses not to punish Ronaldo's impudence by dropping him to the bench where he sat brooding for more than half an hour of Sunday's Manchester derby after taking spectacular offence to being substituted. While Ferguson will not have been surprised by the timing or natureof Carlos Tevez's goal celebration, given his much publicised demands for a permanent move to Old Trafford, Ronaldo's reaction has caused some concern.
