The Fabregas Saga and two alternatives Manchester United could turn to

With the new season fast approaching David Moyes and Manchester United are to make one last push, and make another bid for Barcelonas Cesc Fabregas. Scot Moyes is keen to make a statement of intent in his first season at the helm, and what a mouthwatering prospect it would be to link up the Spanish superstar with former Arsenal team-mate Robin Van Persie.

After Barcelona knocked back Uniteds offers of £24,000,000 and £30,000,000, United are set to bid a club record £34,000,000 to get their man. The Catalans though are expected to maintain their tough stance and resist Uniteds offer for the 26 year old midfielder. And with Fabregas himself keen to stay with his hometown club, Moyes may have to look elsewhere in their bid to bring in a midfielder. Newcastles Yohan Cabaye and Real Madrids Luka Modric are said to be on Uniteds radar.

Newcastles midfield maestro may not be as techically gifted as Fabreags, but the Frenchman would add much needed steel to the Manchester United midfield. Monaco and PSG are also sniffing round the possibility of bringing the 27 year old back to Ligue One, but it is said Cabaye would be keen to remain in the Premier League and United could come calling with a bid around the £20,000,000 mark.

Luka Modric is the man who broke Manchester Uniteds hearts in the Champions League last-16 tie at Old Trafford. Although he never really set Spanish football alight Moyes knows he is proven in the Premier League as the Croatian had four great seasons at Tottenham Hotspur. Key to this move could be Real Madrids pursuit of Juventus's Arturo Vidal; if Real get their man, United could well make a bid for the 27 year old former Dinamo Zagreb star.
