[LNB]English FA chairman David Bernstein has called on players to be good role models and West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson said: 'If you don't behave properly, how can you expect the younger people around you to behave properly?' [LNB]But if errant footballers are a bad influence on some young fans, many other young people are actually deterred from trying to follow in their sporting footsteps because of their poor reputations. [LNB]A survey of 2,000 11 to 18-year-olds by OnePoll on behalf of the Ambition AXA Awards found that stars swearing during live games would deter around three in 10 boys from trying to become a professional sportsperson. [LNB]Among girls the figure was even higher, with 35 per cent saying they would be put off by the bad language. [LNB]Related Articles
