Sunderland have not won in their last six games but despite the mounting worries the Scotland international is convinced his side have what it takes to beat the Premier League pacesetters at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. [LNB]"We are back at home on Saturday and even though we are playing Manchester United, we can still take something from the game," Gordon said. [LNB]"It goes without saying that most people, some of our fans included, will be writing off this weekend's game, that's only natural. The two after, against Hull and West Brom, are more winnable on paper. [LNB]"But it's vital we don't look beyond the United game. The idea that the outcome of a game is given before kick-off is nonsense. It's about two teams out there on the day and we will give it our best. [LNB]"No one expected Manchester United to lose at Fulham a couple of weeks ago. We need to go out, be positive and see what happens. I hear that we are expecting a near sell-out crowd for the game. With our fans in full voice and right behind us, anything can happen." [LNB]Gordon is confident that Sunderland can win their battle against relegation even though they have slipped to fourth-bottom of the Premier League. [LNB]"There is no escaping it, we are in a battle and it's a test of the players' character," the former Hearts captain said. [LNB]"We've had a bad run but we're still better off than the teams below us. We will roll up our sleeves and fight for every ball in the last seven games. [LNB]"We have players in our dressing room that have vital experience - and experience of being in this position. [LNB]"We won the battle last season and we're desperate to ensure we get the same outcome again. [LNB]"I firmly believe that we have a squad of players good enough to keep us in this division; we just need to go out and play with confidence. [LNB]"No one wanted or expected us to be where we are. But we are and we have to deal with it. We have seven games left and we will battle." [LNB]
