Stoke the only friendly winners

Sunderland came from behind to draw against Arminia Bielefeld on a day that saw Stoke, Fulham and Manchester United sides also in action.[LNB] Stephane Sessegnon netted 18 minutes from time for Sunderland at the Schuco Arena to cancel out a controversial penalty that had given the German third division side the lead in the 64th minute.[LNB]O'Shea, Vaughan Larsson and Dong-Won all made their debuts, although O'Shea was taken off after 33 minutes as a precaution after picking up a knock. Fellow new signing Connor Wickham played the second half, while Craig Gardner also came on as a substitute.[LNB]Meanwhile Ben Marshall and Diego Arismendi scored two apiece as a Stoke XI beat Newport YMCA 6-1 in their third pre-season friendly on Sunday.[LNB]Matthew Lund and Rory Delap scored the Potters' other goals.[LNB]Thomas Sorensen again failed to make an appearance, while Jonathan Woodgate is expected to make his debut for the club against Newcastle Town on Wednesday or Brentford on Friday.[LNB]At the Lamex Stadium, a Fulham XI including new signing John Arne Riise was beaten 1-0 by Stevenage.[LNB]Riise started at left-back for the Cottagers alongside other first-team stars Stephen Kelly, Philippe Senderos, Dickson Etuhu and Steve Sidwell.[LNB]It was Stevenage who came out on top, though, with Robin Shroot boosting his chances of a full-time deal with the winner 10 minutes from time.[LNB]Manchester United's second string lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury despite first-team squad member Darron Gibson captaining the side for 90 minutes.
