peter crouch Up for the challenge: Crouch will have to fight for his place with Spurs and England Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp hopes the Carling Cup clash against Doncaster will be the first step for Peter Crouch to get himself to the World Cup. Redknapp is set to rest a host of players for the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium, with Crouch in the frame for a first start since arriving from Portsmouth for £9million. Crouch wants to force his way back into England coach Fabio Capello's squad and Redknapp is looking for the Italian to take notice of his players - including Ledley King, who has a chronic knee problem. 'I want to see them all achieve what they want to achieve,' Redknapp said. 'I want to see Peter at the World Cup, I want to see Jermain (Defoe) at the World Cup, I want to see Tom Huddlestone break into the England team and Jermaine Jenas push into the team. 'I'd love to see Ledley go to the World Cup. I think he is another who could go - he's that good. It's a nightmare (with his injury) - if he played next time for England he wouldn't make the Man United game on the Saturday.' Meanwhile, Redknapp insists Luka Modric would be worth every penny if he was offered a new contract at White Hart Lane. Modric, 23, is already on a long-term deal after arriving from Dynamo Zagreb last year and has reacted to wild speculation about a move to Manchester United by suggesting he is happy at Spurs and would be willing to sign fresh terms. modric Loving life at the Lane: Modric is enjoying his football with Tottenham 'If I was the chairman I would certainly be looking to tie him up as soon as we can because he is an amazing footballer,' Redknapp said. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told Redknapp he is an admirer of the Croatia international after the playmaker's successful first year in England. Modric told Sportske Novosti: 'I feel great at Tottenham and I have given no thought to moving to a different club. My contract runs until 2013 and I am just thinking about staying. 'I wouldn't be surprised if Tottenham offer me a new contract as that is something which happens in England. But, even if that doesn't happen, my feelings will not change. 'I am happy at White Hart Lane and I will continue to give my all for Tottenham, as I always have.'
