Spurs star Modric hits out at Ronaldo: There is no place for his theatrics in the game

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo and feels there is no place in the game for his theatrics on the field. Ronaldo came under fire again after he was booked during the Carling Cup Final for an alleged dive inside the box. The Manchester United winger was left fuming after referee Chris Foy showed him a yellow card as he was convinced Ledley King tripped him inside the box. But Modric is angry at the way Ronaldo is always moaning on the pitch and feels he needs to change his attitude. Modric said: 'He's an excellent player, but he really overdoes the theatrical bits. 'In England, where fairness is especially kept in mind and where a masculine, fair game is the law, such whining stands out even more. I don't know what good it will do him.' Modric admits he was prepared to take a penalty during the Carling Cup Final defeat against Manchester United, despite his heartache when he missed a crucial spot kick for Croatia in Euro 2008 against Turkey. Modric has hit out at Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo The Tottenham midfielder believes his team can bounce back from their Cup Final defeat and admits he has no intentions of leaving White Hart Lane at the end of the season. Modric added: 'Redknapp asked me how I felt. I wasn't among the first five strikers, but I would have had a go if we had gone into sudden-death. 'I wasn't too thrilled about that, because I have to do everything to overcome that fear. There is no point in it becoming a chronic frustration.' When asked about his long-term future, Modric replied: 'Leave those stories alone, I've just arrived.'
