Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed a softer side to his character after adnitting he becomes so close to his players he ends up 'loving' them like members of his own family. The fiery Scot says this is what it makes it so painful when he has to offload players who have played at Old Trafford for years. He told The Sun: Ferguson said: 'The leadership qualities needed at a club like Manchester United are high. You have to have respect from the players. 'A time comes when you see a deterioration and you know you have to make the change. A lot of people can't do it.' 'They're like your family but you must make those changes.' United face Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final showdown tomorroe night. But Ferguson believes a shootout may be needed at the Emirates tomorrow despite his side holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Old Trafford. He said: 'These are two good football teams and there won't be a lot in it. It could even go to penalty kicks.'
