Sir Alex Ferguson's grandson 10 in surgery after car crash

Charlie Ferguson was rushed to hospital with his six-year-old sister, Grace, and their mother Nadine, 30, who is separated from Sir Alex's son, Darren.[LNB]Firefighters had to free the family from the wreckage of their Vauxhall Corsa following the collision near their home in Cheshire on Tuesday morning.[LNB] Related ArticlesSir Alex Ferguson visits grandson in hospital after serious crashSir Alex Fergusons daughter-in-law and grandson in road crashFamily of Stephen Hawking hopeful of full recovery after hospital admissionTimeline: Natasha Richardsons final daysGirl impaled on wooden spike after falling down holeMrs Ferguson was taken by air ambulance to Manchester's Wythenshawe Hospital where her condition is serious but not life- threatening.[LNB]Grace was kept overnight at Leighton Hospital in Crewe after being treated for minor injuries.[LNB]Charlie was transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool where the surgery took place.[LNB]His condition is described as serious but stable.[LNB]Cheshire Police would not say what injuries were suffered by the family.[LNB]"The boy has undergone surgery and he remains in a serious but stable condition," a spokesman said.[LNB]"The six-year-old girl suffered minor injuries and stayed at Leighton Hospital overnight."[LNB]Mrs Ferguson's black Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a Ford Fiesta in Trap Street, Lower Withington, Macclesfield, at around 8.25am on Tuesday.[LNB]The Fiesta driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with leg injuries and was in a stable condition.[LNB]A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said two crews attended the scene.[LNB]"On arrival, the crews found two saloon cars were involved in a collision and the occupants of both vehicles were trapped inside.[LNB]"An adult and two children were removed from the Corsa and a man was removed from the Fiesta.[LNB]"All those involved were then taken by ambulance to hospital."[LNB]Mrs Ferguson was separated from Peterborough United boss Darren, 37, in 2007 after four years of marriage.[LNB]Last year he admitted assaulting his wife during a row on the driveway of his parents' home and was fined £1,500.[LNB]Macclesfield Magistrates' Court heard that Ferguson raised his leg and struck Mrs Ferguson's stomach.[LNB]Manchester United boss Sir Alex last night gave away no sign of his family's worries as he watched his side cruise into the Champions League Final.[LNB]United beat Arsenal 3-1 in the semi-final second leg at the Emirates stadium.[LNB]A spokeswoman for Manchester United said: "This is a private matter for Sir Alex and his family."
