Sir Alex Ferguson told to stay away from Old Trafford because 'he's a jinx'
Share There will be one familiar figure missing when Darren Ferguson attempts to maintain the family success record at Old Trafford this afternoon - his father Sir Alex will be watching from the comfort of his armchair. [LNB]The Manchester United manager might enjoy the day out to get over the night before but, when it comes to following his son's fortunes as boss at Peterborough, he just thinks he is something of a jinx. [LNB]'Let's just say he will be with me in spirit,' said Darren. 'We talked about it and the truth is the teamhasn't done that well when he has been watching, so we both thought it would be best if he stayed away. I know he'll be kicking every ball for me.' [LNB] Steer clear: Sir Alex Ferguson will have bigger things on his mind on Saturday night[LNB]Ferguson will be on familiar ground when Peterborough take on Huddersfield for a place in the Championship next season. [LNB]He was a former youth team player at United before he and his father agreed he was not quite up to the standard required. [LNB]But the memories came flooding back when he supervised a training session at the Theatre of Dreams on Friday. [LNB]'I had quite forgotten what it was like to appreciate the atmosphere of the place, even when the stands were empty. But they will be fine, we have players in the teamwho will think, 'I'll have abit of this' and I'm hopeful they'll go on and put in the right performance. [LNB]'It was just circumstances. I regret what happened, but to go back to Peterborough and be involved in the play-offs has made such a difference,' he added. [LNB]And he denied suggestions that his axing at Deepdale prompted Sir Alex to recall three players thatwere loan at Preston. [LNB]Darren said: 'It was not a question of sour grapes.
