Serie A star transfer auction to be the biggest in history confirms agent

With the potential transfer of Paul Pogba a few things remain constant; Juventus bosses reticence to entertain bids for their talismanic young central midfielder; the players undoubted talent; the lengths that certain parties are prepared to go to sell/buy the player.

All of these constants are in play with what promises to be a transfer saga that could define the fortunes of several interested parties. Juventus want to resist selling their player but may find it difficult to resist the pressure of a huge transfer fee which Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has warned, or advised is what is required for a deal to happen.

Pogba of course left United for just a small compensation figure after declaring that he wasn't given enough opportunity at Old Trafford but has since developed into one of Europe’s most exciting players having shaken off the ‘prospect’ status and delivered on the potential clearly shown at Manchester United.

“Offers are already coming in, but Juventus don’t want to sell, they must make it an auction. His transfer would be one of the most expensive in history.” Said Raiola.

The prospect of a bidding war is very real but just how far are clubs prepared to go? Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG all seem interested in the player but what the upper limit of a bid would look like is anyone’s guess but how Pogba fit into Louis van Gaal’s plans seems clearer.

Certainly in the later stages of the season it seems that van Gaal has preferred playing three central midfielders with Herrera and Fellaini in a slightly more advanced position to Carrick and it could be that Pogba would play alongside either Fellaini of Herrera in a more advanced role.
