Another day and more grist comes along to be ground in the rumour mill with the Summer transfer window now the significant target for the majority of deals to be done. January seems to have been too much of a risk for most of the big clubs and leagues with cup-tied players, injuries and over-inflated valuations proving too big a barrier.

Schweinsteiger is a player of prodigious talent that will remarkably be a free agent in the summer, able to pick from a variety of Premier League clubs. Manchester United and Chelsea are reported to have shown interest in the player should he be looking for a change of scenery according to the Guardian.

The 30-year-old World Cup winning German midfielder has been at Bayern Munich since joining as a youth in 1998. As a senior player he has made 331 league appearances for Munich and scored some 41 Bundesliga goals. The player is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world with a fearsome long-range shot as well as being the “the brain” at the heart of the club and international team due to his superb positioning and vision.

The midfield mastermind has won almost every major honour at club and international level including the Champions League, Club World Cup and World Cup. It is looking like both United and Chelsea stand a good chance of joining the ranks of the Champions League qualifiers next year but you would think he may have more to offer United than Chelsea.
