Scholes - Final start unlikely
Paul Scholes has admitted that it is unlikely he will be given the chance to play against Barcelona in the Champions League final.
A year ago, Scholes scored the only goal in Manchester United's semi-final tie with Barcelona before playing a pivotal role in the Moscow showdown with Chelsea.
But this time around the 34-year-old doubts whether he will be included in the side in Rome.
"The manager hasn't said anything to me about playing in the final," Scholes told The Mail on Sunday.
"My gut instinct is that I probably won't, I don't think many people think I'll start after not playing in either of the semi-finals or against city. But you never know, we'll have to see."
The United stalwart has made only five appearances during this season's European campaign; a situation that Scholes admits is frustrating.

However, he accepts his manager's decision and is ensuring he stays in top physical condition so he is ready when the call does come.
"Not playing every week is an adjustment you don't like. You train all week and you want to play games," Scholes added.
"I think there is a time when you have to accept you won't play every week especially with the quality of midfielders we have.
"You just make sure you are ready yourself when the manager wants you to play. It is more a physical thing than a mental thing definitely.
"But some days the legs don't seem to want to do what the mind is telling them."
The former England international will try out a series of coaching courses this summer with a future in management in mind, but he has not made a decision on retirement yet.
Scholes said: "I will have to see how I am next year. If I feel I can go on again, I will do. If not, then I won't."
