Schmeichel hails United's rock solid defence as they home in on the title

Peter Schmeichel has described Manchester United's

defence as 'the best in the world'.

The champions have not conceded a goal in the past 13 Premier League games as they step up their bid to retain the crown.

Keeper Edwin van der Sar has been in stunning form along with central defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

'We've the best defence in the world,' said Schmeichel, who won the title five times in his eight years at Old Trafford.

'I can't see anyone scoring against them. It's great to have that feeling of confidence. I think Edwin has done tremendously well. It's great to see him come into the team and give stability.
