The Cesc Fabregas rumors of a move to Manchester United continue to gain in strength and speed. It is again being reported that Fabregas will be new manager, David Moyes, first signing. United are looking to replace the retiring Paul Scholes and feel that a player of Fabregas’ quality and skill will enhance the United midfield.

It is currently said that Barcelona will be asking around £20 million to gain back part of the £29 million fee they paid to Arsenal two years ago. The Red Devils feel that that this is an acceptable price for someone with the experience and abilities that Fabregas will bring to the club. Fabregas knows the Premier League and has plenty of Champions League experience. Something that current midfielders Anderson and Tom Cleverly do not.

Barcelona are looking to repair their midfield and make changes to a squad that was taken apart by Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final 7-0 on aggregate. Fabregas has appeared in 31 La Liga games and has scored 10 goals and assisted on 11 more. Numbers like these from a midfielder would be welcomed from a club like United who tend to play the ball in from the outside winger positions.

United are hoping that former Arsenal teammate Robin Van Persie can help lure Fabregas to Manchester. They spend seven years together at Arsenal and are good friends. Fabregas still has a strong connection to Arsenal but will that be enough for him to bypass United in favor of his old club. Arsenal has not won a trophy in eight years and United look the better road ahead.

United need to address the midfield problem once and for all. Having Paul Scholes come out of retirement every time United’s midfield falters is no longer an option. Cleverly and Anderson have not answered the call and a player like Fabregas should shine at a club like United.
