Sir Alex Ferguson reckons that Wayne Rooney should be fit and in the starting line-up that faces Benfica on Tuesday night.

There were worries about the player after he missed training on Monday, but Fergie says there is no serious injury and he expected Rooney to be in the side.

If United win the game, they could be assured of progress into the knock out stage after winning the group.

'We've got one or two knocks from Saturday,' Ferguson said.

'Jonny Evans has some tightness in his hamstring but will hopefully be okay tomorrow.'

'Wayne's got a few knocks and missed training today but should be okay.'

'Chris Smalling trained this morning but won't be available for tomorrow, he should be okay for Saturday (against Newcastle) and Anderson is out injured.'
