It took a lot of fans by surprise when Rooney was named as a sub at Anfield, the reason being given for the decision is that the striker was ‘devastated’ by picking up a three game England ban.
But after coming on against Liverpool, he looked just as hungry to do well as ever and no sign of being down.
“When he came on against Liverpool he was quite bubbly,” said Ferguson.
“He was desperate to get on, which is good. He’ll be playing tonight.”
