Rooney joining Beckham in the MLS! Wayne's brother heading to America
Beckham and Rooney reunited? Perhaps, but it won't be at Manchester United. [LNB]Wayne Rooney's 20-year-old brother John will fly to America on Sunday intending to take the MLS by storm. [LNB]And the former Macclesfield Town midfielder could end up playing alongside England David Beckham when the annual 'SuperDraft' is held on January 13. [LNB]John has been looking forward to his American adventure since having trials with Seattle and Portland in August, keeping fit by training with Tranmere ahead of his new year move.[LNB] Hollywood: David Beckham (left) is the MLS's biggest star, but John Rooney (right) could soon be plying his trade in Amercia's football league[LNB] 'Macclesfield offered me a new contract, but I was focused on the opportunity to go over there in August and trial with two teams,' he said. 'It was the right time in my career to go over there and to improve. [LNB]'It's been tough waiting for four months, and now I'm just waiting to get myself going and get started.' [LNB]The move hasn't come without a bit of advice from his older brother. The Manchester United star has played in the States on pre-season tours with United and recently spent a week training in Portland away from the fallout of his threat to quit Old Trafford. [LNB]'(Wayne) told me about a few of the teams he played when they've been over on tour,' said John. 'The team (United) enjoyed it a lot and he likes it over there.' [LNB] The other Rooney: John's brother, Manchester United star Wayne[LNB]A number of players have made the transition from England to the MLS, with some - such as Darren Huckerby - enjoying a new lease of life in a league which has been criticised for its quality.[LNB] Beckham stunned the football world when he left Real Madrid for the LA Galaxy in 2007, but few genuine world stars have followed the 35-year-old across the pond. [LNB]However, Rooney said: 'I've been watching the league for a few years now and it's getting better and better every year. [LNB] 'The lifestyle and the football there is great. I thoroughly enjoyed it (on trial) and I wanted to get back over there. [LNB]'There were a few teams sniffing around (in England) but I wanted to change my career.'
