Rooney Back For Newcastle Clash

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that striker Wayne Rooney will be back in contention for the game against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

Rooney found himself dropped for the game with Blackburn on Saturday due to being naughty on Boxing Day.

Now United could do without too many performances like the one against Blackburn Rovers and need to get back on track in Tyneside and Rooney will hopefully be looking to make up for his misdemeanour.

Ferguson also confirmed that the club are trying to get Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs back.

The United boss said: ‘We’re trying hard to get Rio Ferdinand for (Wednesday) and Ryan Giggs, which would make a good difference for us. Wayne Rooney will be available of course.

“We had a few training sessions, which he missed. You’ve got to be fit to play in this league, you can’t miss training sessions’.
