Rio - Winning is everything

Rio Ferdinand has insisted he is not too concerned about whether the UEFA Champions League final is a great spectacle. Wednesday's clash between Manchester United and Barcelona is expected to produce one of the more entertaining finals of recent years as it brings together two of the most exciting attacking line-ups in Europe. Ferdinand would like it to be a classic encounter but admits his only real interest is the result. The defender is set to start for the Red Devils after recovering from injury and he is eager to avoid the pain of defeat. The 30-year-old has been on the losing side in other big matches but concedes he can only imagine how it must feel to be beaten in a Champions League final. "I'm just a bad loser. I can't help it. So to lose a game of the magnitude of the European cup final must really hurt," he told the Daily Express. "I've lost FA Cup finals and semis, so I know what it feels like to lose. "But the European Cup final is huge and you don't get many chances to win it, so I'd like to think we'll go to Rome and not know what it's like to lose. "I just want to win. I don't care how the game goes. It would be nice if it was a great game with loads of skill and loads of goals for us. "But people don't remember it for being a great final. People only remember the winners."
