Rio Still Holds England Hopes

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand still has hopes of getting back into the England team at some point.

Now 34 years old, Ferdinand last played in 2011 but the end was signalled when Roy Hodgson did not pick him for the England squad that took part in Euro 2012.

Even so, the defender still has a passion to play and he would like to do that at the highest possible level.

He told PA Sport:  "The manager hasn't picked me but if I got picked I'd pack my bags and go straight there.

"I'm no different to anyone else. I love playing for England. If I'm not then I'll keep doing what I'm doing for Manchester United."

Ferdinand has been capped 81 times by England, with his last appearance coming in a Euro qualifier against Switzerland.
