Rio - I have nothing to prove

Rio Ferdinand insists he does not have to prove anyone wrong after recent criticism of his poor form. The England and Manchester United defender has been guilty of a number of high-profile mistakes that have led to conceding goals, but the 30-year-old is not pressing the panic button. A defiant Ferdinand believes it is only a matter of time before he finds top form again, and is looking to get as many games under his belt as possible. "I'm not interested in proving anyone wrong," he said in the Sunday Mirror. "I'm not interested in what people say about me. I'm just trying to get games under my belt. Transition "All I need is a run of games. It's been a bit strange for me coming in and settling back into it. "But it's been a seamless transition. When Jonny Evans came in for me it was also seamless. Long may that continue. "Personally, I am just glad to keep playing games." Ferdinand was criticised after gifting Craig Bellamy a goal in the Manchester derby last month, and then slipped up for England against Ukraine as Robert Green was sent off. "Criticism comes with the territory," he added. "I'm big enough to accept any criticism I get. "But it's just a question, for me, of getting some games under my belt after missing a few through injury."
