Reds Ready For Aldershot Says Owen

Michael Owen insists Manchester United will not be taking Tuesday night's Carling Cup clash against League Two outfit Aldershot lightly.

United fans will be expecting nothing short of a backlash after Sunday’s performance against Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Owen is expected to be part of the starting line up, he is an old master when it comes to the Carling Cup, he has scored in the final of the competition and banged in a couple when United ripped Leeds apart in the last round.

"We've done quite well in the Carling Cup over the years and we want to progress and win a trophy. That's the end game." Said Owen to MUTV.

Owen knows Aldershot will be champing at the bit to go down in history by beating United tonight, but Owen says the Reds will also be up for the game.

"It's obviously going to be a massive game for Aldershot with Manchester United coming into town," he added.

"I'm sure it'll be a full house and we're treating it as an important game as well."

Owen also expects United to put out a strong team.

He said: "There's players who weren't involved against City, me being one of them, and a lot of the lads need games so it'll be quite a strong Manchester United playing against them."
