Despite speculation that the Red Knights, led by Goldman Sachs financier Jim O'Neill, were on the verge of abandoning their attempts to launch a £1 billion takeover bid, it is understood that the group are instead planning to wait until the early months of next season before testing the Glazers's resolve.
