Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his delight at triggering his world-record £80million move to Real Madrid. The Portugal winger demanded a transfer from Manchester United, who have caved in to accept Real's huge offer. Sir Alex Ferguson agreed to let his star player go after being given the green light for a £100m summer spending spree. Ronaldo, who is currently holidaying in Los Angeles after suffering a stomach injury while on international duty, is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days. He will then sign a long-term contract with the Spanish giants that is expected to net him around £200,000 a week. 'It's flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them,' said Ronaldo from California. 'The deal is historic - £80m is quite a sum of money. I learned about it here in LA and have heard from my people that United have accepted. 'However, I've also been told that Madrid want to have a medical team look at me as expected. 'I do not require a surgery. The hernia is nothing to worry about - I'm on vacation and will remain in LA.' Meanwhile, former Real president Ramon Calderon has sensationally revealed that Ronaldo agreed to join them six monthsa ago after striking a deal with United.
