Real to apply to ban injured Ronaldo from Portugal's World Cup play-off
Race to be fit: Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo[LNB]Real Madrid are ready to go to FIFA or even ban Cristiano Ronaldo from playing against Bosnia-Herzegovina after the star was included in the Portugal squad for their World Cup play-off.[LNB]The former Manchester United winger injured his right ankle in September and aggravated it during Portugal's game against Hungary on October 10.[LNB]Ronaldo has not played since then and faces a race to be fit for his country's two games on November 14 and 18.[LNB]The Portugal captain met with Dutch specialist Professor Niek van Dijk in Amsterdam on Thursday after tests conducted by Madrid on Wednesday revealed that no improvement had been made on Ronaldo's injury since undergoing an MRI scan a week before. [LNB]Queiroz wants the national team's doctor to assess the winger's injury.[LNB]Portugal will tell Madrid that only an incapacitated player, which Ronaldo is not, is prevented from travelling. [LNB]Madrid cannot understand how Portugal could name an injured player in their squad and will take the matter to FIFA if necessary. As a last resort the Spanish club are even willing to ban Ronaldo from playing for Portugal.[LNB] Meanwhile Valencia full-back Miguel, Wolfsburg centre-back Ricardo Costa and Werder Bremen striker Hugo Almeida returned to the Portugal squad for the clash in Lisbon on Saturday, with the return leg in Zenica four days later.
