Real Madrid admit fourmonth pursuit of Manchester United's Carlos Tevez

Earlier this week it was reported that the Spanish giants were prepared to spend up to £40 million on the Argentine whose loan deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season. However, Mijatovic, the former Real striker, said Tevez has his heart set on staying in the Premier League. "I first made an approach four months ago to express an interest in Carlos,' he told the Daily Mail. 'We have spoken since with his representatives, but he's informed us that he wants to stay in England.' Mijatovic insisted Tevez would fit in well at the Bernabeu and was suited to the Spanish Primera Liga, but said: 'Carlos says it is important to his family to stay in England so it seems he will either stay with Manchester United or find anther club. 'It takes a special type of player to play for a club like Real Madrid or Manchester United and clearly Carlos has those qualities.' Rumours over Tevez's future were fuelled by last week when the 25-year-old was quoted in an interview as saying that he no longer felt a part of the "family" at United. With Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Everton all rumoured to be monitoring the striker, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he still wants to sign the player permanently but negotiations with Kia Joorabchian, Tevez's economic rights holder, were frustrating him. 'I am going to address this [the Tevez situation] because I said months ago that I am fed up talking about players' contracts, ' Ferguson said prior to today's game against Arsenal. "David Gill [United's chief executive] met with him [Kia Joorabchian] on Wednesday and that is a clear fact. "They discussed the avenue in which Carlos Tevez can stay at Manchester United and that's it. End of story. I'm not getting into it any more."
