A century from Ashwell Prince steered Lancashire towards a County Championship Division One draw as they recovered from the loss of early wickets against Nottinghamshire on day four at Old Trafford.[LNB] Resuming on one without loss in their second innings and needing another 177 to avoid an innings defeat, Lancashire were in trouble after losing three wickets for 11 runs in the morning session.[LNB] Tom Smith (seven) was first to go to the economical Luke Fletcher, before England seamer Ryan Sidebottom removed Paul Horton for 14. Fletcher claimed his second lbw to dismiss Faf du Plessis, but Prince and Mark Chilton batted watchfully to reach lunch at 63 for three.[LNB] And the pair batted right through the afternoon session, Prince (103 not out) hitting his 10,000th first-class run in the process before reaching three figures just before the interval with Lancashire 181 for three, a lead of three runs. Chilton was on an unbeaten 44.[LNB] The other Division One game looked to be heading for a draw, despite Hampshire bowling out Sussex at the Rose Bowl.[LNB] Hampshire would have had hopes of forcing a victory in the morning as Sussex resumed on 230 for six in their first innings, still 120 behind, especially when Robin Martin-Jenkins fell to Billy Taylor for 16.[LNB] But England wicketkeeper Matt Prior added 28 to his overnight 112, before Damien Wright (42) and Ragheb Aga (24) put on 55 for the ninth wicket to help Sussex reach 336, a first-innings deficit of just 14.[LNB] After lunch openers Michael Carberry (56no) and Jimmy Adams (32 no) took control as Hampshire reached tea 102 runs to the good at 88 without loss.
