The Barcelona star forward has waded into the debate over who is the best keeper that Spain have available right now by putting the 34-year-old Iker Casillas ahead of the young David De Gea.

The 27-year-old Pedro who many predicted to be surplus to requirements at Barca after the arrival of Suarez feels that the veteran shot-stopper should be picked ahead of De Gea and that any change in this area would not be beneficial to Vincente del Bosque’s side.

“Iker is a great goalkeeper and for us is the best. There is nothing more to say,” said fellow Spanish international Pedro to Goal

Casillas has come under criticism over recent years for a number of mistakes and the report claims that there is pressure to have the veteran replaced as the nations No.1 by the Manchester United keeper.

When you look at the stats for each player this season there is very little to choose between them aside from the 10 year age gap. The Real Madrid keeper who has been at the Bernabeu since joining as a youth way back in 1990 has made 510 league appearances for the senior team but is now linked with a move away. Arsenal are said to be interested in the keeper claims the Mirror who could lose his place should David de Gea decide to leave Old Trafford in the summer.
