Pearce could turn to Welbeck

Stuart Pearce is considering recalling Danny Welbeck to his England Under-21 squad if he does not feature against Montenegro.[LNB] England manager Fabio Capello has handed Welbeck, who made his senior debut for his country in a friendly against Ghana in March, a call-up for Friday's final Euro 2012 qualifier in Podgorica. [LNB]However, the presence of more experienced frontmen such as Wayne Rooney and Darren Bent in Capello's squad means the Manchester United striker is not guaranteed to play. [LNB]Young Lions coach Pearce is considering asking Capello and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson if the 20-year-old can return for the U21s' Euro 2013 qualifier in Norway on Monday. [LNB]Pearce is lacking options up front after Nathan Delfouneso and Martyn Waghorn both suffered hamstring injuries during Thursday night's 3-0 victory in Iceland. [LNB]Questioned over whether he would recall Welbeck, the coach told The Sun: "We have suffered two hamstring injuries to two attacking players so in my mind it certainly becomes a consideration. [LNB]"I will have to speak to Fabio and one or two others. We will have to see how the dust settles and get an understanding of the situation.[LNB]"I wanted to take on Norway with the squad I had here in Iceland. But the two injuries have really put us flat to the boards in advanced positions."
