Paul Scholes casts doubt on his Manchester United future

Paul Scholes has admitted that he has not decided whether to play on at Manchester United for another year.

The midfielder returned at Blackpool on Tuesday night, after two months out with a groin injury, and set up Dimitar Berbatov's late goal as United came from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

But 36-year-old Scholes said later: 'I don't know what I'm doing next year. I just want to concentrate on getting back playing for now.

'I like to have a week or two off at Christmas. This one just stretched out a bit longer.'

Scholes left it until April last year before agreeing to extend his career another season. Defender Rafael, who suffered concussion at Blackpool, misses Saturday's FA Cup tie at Southampton.

Darren Fletcher says the comeback could be vital to United. 'It could be a pivotal result,' he said.

'It gives us a chance to win the league.'
