Patrice Evra believes communication with Nemanja Vidic is key to Manchester United's unbeaten run
Patrice Evra claims the art of good defending comes down to the fact it is good to talk.[LNB]The Manchester United full-back has just celebrated five years with the Old Trafford outfit.[LNB]It has proved to be one of the most productive spells in the club's history, gleaning three Premier League titles, a couple of Champions League final appearances, plus an assortment of additional trophies, all of which Evra has played a major part in.[LNB] Spurred on: Evra is confident heading into the clash with Tottenham[LNB]And, despite boasting the dazzling attacking talents of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov at various stages of that amazing half decade, none of the silverware could have been collected without a solid defence.[LNB]The high point was undoubtedly the 14-game run without conceding a league goal during the 2008-09 campaign.[LNB]However, even now, United's defences are strong, one of the major reasons why they remain unbeaten heading into Sunday's showdown with fellow title challengers Tottenham at White Hart Lane.[LNB]Perfect partner: Vidic's knowledge helps Evra prepare for games[LNB]And, according to Evra, the secret is the art of communication.[LNB]'We talk a lot,' Evra told MUTV. 'I like that. Nemanja Vidic will always tell me whether I am doing the right things or not. It is what I want him to do. He must keep me alive.[LNB]'There are times when I have to help him as well, if the striker is on his back for instance.[LNB]'But Vida is always explaining, before games and training. He tells me how my opponents play. It is so important.' [LNB]Evra will hope the noise levels are pretty high this weekend. United have an exceptional record at Tottenham.[LNB]Not since 2001 have Sir Alex Ferguson's men tasted defeat at the north London venue, the nine subsequent visits yielding seven victories and a couple of draws.[LNB]With matches in hand on all their rivals, should United extend that record they will really assume strong favouritism for this season's title.[LNB]Rarely though, have Tottenham been in such buoyant form, so Sir Alex Ferguson will need to ensure he gets his team selection correct.[LNB]After leaving Vidic out of the FA Cup win over Liverpool last week, the United captain is certain to return.[LNB]Recovery from respective ankle and groin injuries is required before Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes can take their places, whilst it is hoped Edwin van der Sar is available again after missing three games due to a virus.
